HOW DO I COMMISSION A DRAWING?

CAN WE HAVE A PHONE CONVERSATION?

Yes, I’m happy to talk with you and answer any questions.

Send me an email with a phone number, your name, and the best time to call.

ONCE I DECIDE TO PROCEED, WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

I ask you to send me at least four photos that represent the subject’s personality and appearance.

I study those photos and sketch until I have captured something unique about the subject.

WHAT IF I REQUEST CHANGES? 

You can make any changes on the first pencil sketch. After that, a 25%, non-refundable fee is required for each additional sketch.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PENCIL SKETCH IS APPROVED?

When the remaining balance plus shipping is paid in full, I will finish the drawing in black India Ink on a cold press, double thick illustration board.

CAN TWO OR MORE PEOPLE BE IN A DRAWING?

Yes. This should be mentioned before the work is begun to determine the appropriate fee for the drawing. 

CAN A SPECIFIC BACKGROUND OR PROPS BE INCLUDED IN THE DRAWING?

Any additional background or props should be mentioned before the work is begun as additional fees would be required.

IS A DEPOSIT REQUIRED?

To reserve a time slot for a commission, a 50%, non-refundable deposit is required.         

This guarantees that you will receive a pencil sketch of the drawing for approval.           

  Initial sketches are sent out in an email as a jpeg.

IS A PRIVATE SITTING POSSIBLE?

If you live near New York City, a private sitting could be arranged.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A DRAWING TO BE COMPLETED?

Two to three weeks. However, for an additional fee, a tighter deadline may be possible.

HOW IS THE COMPLETED DRAWING SHIPPED?

Drawings are insured and shipped in several layers of thick cardboard.

Shipping costs are based on UPS Ground rates; I do ship worldwide.

WHAT IS THE SIZE OF A DRAWING?

A drawing is usually 16" x 20".

WHAT IF I WANT A DRAWING OF A FAVORITE PERFORMER OR FAMOUS PERSON?

This is something I have done often, as well as drawings depicting famous scenes from films, theatrical productions, television shows, and concerts.
